The RED-4 panel can control a standard A/C or a heat pump; but if there is a heat pump, a heat pump thermostat must be installed on zone 1. When a system includes a heat pump, the ED-4 panel can control up to 3 stages of heating and 2 stages of cooling.
With a 2 to 4 zone system not including a heat pump: 1 or 2 stage heating, 1 or 2 stage of cooling.
